The Pentagon's Silence On UFOs Threatens To Undermine President Biden
Written by Christopher Sharp - 19 February 2023
Pentagon refuses to comment to confirm authenticity of ‘Mosul Orb’ image despite previously confirming similar released materials which formed part of a classified briefing.
Jeremy Corbell: ‘There is no question that Susan Gough is obstructing and intentionally obfuscating to the American public. I doubt her inconsistency is a personal action; but rather a shift in public-facing policy - or an order she is taking from another above her level of responsibility.
Former Intelligence Analyst: ‘For the Pentagon spokesperson to maintain her role as the sole authorized public affairs office to respond to UAP related inquiries, it is imperative that she be consistent in her responses.’
The communications approach taken by the Pentagon has previously been to the detriment of UAP advocates.
After a huge political and media storm created after three unidentified objects were shot down by the United States Air Force following the incursion of a Chinese balloon, the issue around UAP transparency has been elevated to the highest office in the land - President Joe Biden’s office.
When asked to comment by Liberation Times regarding potential release of imagery/footage showing recently shot down unknown objects, a DoD spokesperson did suggest footage and imagery could potentially be released in future, but not at this time.
The general lack of transparency regarding UAP is also causing frustration among politicians, especially Republicans.
Adding an extra layer to this story, sources have told Liberation Times that information relating to physics-defying UAP is being hidden from both Congress and President Joe Biden.
Sources who have spoken to Liberation Times have claimed that a senior Commander within the United States Navy has informed President Joe Biden of a UAP coverup which is damning of the United States Air Force - a claim first made by Australian journalist, Ross Coulthart.
Commenting on the general situation regarding UAP transparency, Jeremy Corbell told Liberation Times that the floodgates are now opening and that the ball is now in the DoD’s court.
Following the release of an unclassified image showing a metallic-looking orb flying over the Iraqi city of Mosul in 2016, the Pentagon has refused to comment to confirm its authenticity, with spokesperson Susan Gough stating:
‘I’m not going to comment on whether something is or is not part of a classified briefing.’
Although understandable that the Pentagon may not want to comment on materials contained within classified briefings, it contradicts the previous stance taken following the release of similar materials, which filmmaker and journalist Jeremy Corbell released in 2021.
In April 2021, Corbell released unclassified footage contained within a classified briefing via the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), showing Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) filmed by USS Russell.
When asked in 2021 to verify the authenticity of the footage and imagery, Pentagon spokesperson Susan Gough then stated:
“I can confirm that the referenced photos and videos were taken by Navy personnel. The UAPTF has included these incidents in their ongoing examinations.
“As we have said before, to maintain operations security and to avoid disclosing information that may be useful to potential adversaries, DOD does not discuss publicly the details of either the observations or the examinations of reported incursions into our training ranges or designated airspace, including those incursions initially designated as UAP.”
Later on, in 2021, Gough also confirmed the authenticity of a video from 2019 showing a spherical-shaped object hovering above the ocean before descending into the water, captured by USS Omaha.
Speaking about the apparent u-turn in the Pentagon’s approach when commenting on such materials, Jeremy Corbell, who released the Mosul Orb image with fellow journalist George Knapp through their WEAPONIZED podcast told Liberation Times:
‘There is no question that Susan Gough is obstructing and intentionally obfuscating to the American public. I doubt her inconsistency is a personal action; but rather a shift in public-facing policy - or an order she is taking from another above her level of responsibility. Either way, the American public deserves to know the truth and see the full video of the “Mosul Orb”. I am giving the DoD a chance to do the right thing. This is that chance.
‘The American public has a right to know and a need to know. I personally feel a duty to find out.
‘The truth about the “Mosul Orb” is important because it is the first image the world has ever publicly seen of a UFO that was filmed by our military from an active CONFLICT ZONE. It's the first time the American public gets to see one of the actual machines of unknown origin that pilots are encountering (and sometimes engaging) on a daily basis.’
Despite no confirmation regarding the Mosul Orb’s authenticity, Susan Gough did comment that the Pentagon’s UAP office, known as the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), will work to potentially declassify UAP material for public release:
‘AARO is working to develop a means to provide updates to the public on UAP cases, including sharing the analytic approach and method used.
‘When able to obscure and protect sensitive information, AARO will work to declassify and clear material for release to the public.’
However, despite promises, the actions taken so far by the Pentagon’s public affairs office suggest a step backwards when it comes to UAP transparency.
Intelligence Veteran And Practicing Attorney Provides Insight
Sean Munger, a former intelligence analyst in the Marine Corps and a practicing attorney provided further comment regarding the Pentagon’s current approach:
‘One could argue that the legitimacy of a government is determined by the level of trust its citizens have in it and their willingness to be governed by it.
‘When it comes to the UAP topic, the spokespersons of our elected officials and Pentagon have done themselves no favors in trust building as there has been a complete lack of consistency in messaging or response to legitimate inquiry of reported UAP incidents that have been uncovered by investigative journalists.
‘Lack of Credibility - Consistency is important in any communication, especially when it comes to a sensitive topic that involves National Security matters, such as UAP. If a spokesperson for the Pentagon is inconsistent in their responses, it can lead to confusion and mistrust among the public, media and other stakeholders.
‘Inconsistent responses can make the spokesperson appear unreliable, unprepared, or even dishonest. This can damage their credibility and lead to a loss of trust from the public.
‘Confusion - When there are conflicting responses, it can create confusion among the public and media about when the official stance is on UAP. As many have witnessed within the UAP interested community over the years, this will lead to misunderstanding, misinterpretation, and false rumors.
‘Unintentional Disclosures - Inconsistent responses to inquiries can upset stakeholders, witnesses and experiencers. Those responsible for government public messaging should never forget that these incidents they are attempting to control information on, are also the experience of our warfighters and service members. Information that is unnecessarily withheld will only serve to disenfranchise service members from utilizing the established reporting systems because they too will distrust their own government.
‘A disenfranchised service members# has a higher probability of leaking information. Leaked information may reveal sensitive information or unintentionally disclose classified details about UAP, which can compromise national security and intelligence operations.
‘Legal Issues - Inconsistent responses can create legal problems, especially if they contradict previous statements or official reports, which can lead to lawsuits, inspector general investigations and other legal consequences.
‘For the Pentagon spokesperson to maintain her role as the sole authorized public affairs office to respond to UAP related inquiries, it is imperative that she be consistent in her responses.
‘They must elevate their performance to meet this expectation or find themselves responsible for the negative outcomes I listed.’
Biden’s UAP Headache
The communications approach taken by the Pentagon has previously been to the detriment of UAP advocates.
But now after a huge political and media storm created after three unidentified objects were shot down by the United States Air Force following the incursion of a Chinese balloon, the issue around UAP transparency has been elevated to the highest office in the land - President Joe Biden’s office.
Frustrations have grown, with the White House and Pentagon currently repelling calls to release footage showing the objects. The White House has directed questions regarding the potential release of the footage to the Department of Defense (DoD).
When asked to comment by Liberation Times, a DoD spokesperson did suggest footage and imagery could potentially be released in future, but not at this time:
‘We do not have any footage/images of that type that we can release at this time. That may change, but I could not speculate on a timeline.’
Pressure may grow further in the coming days and weeks after it was announced that the search for two of the objects shot down over U.S. territory had been called off.
The general lack of transparency regarding UAP is also causing frustration among politicians, especially Republicans.
On 14 February 2023, following a classified briefing between the Senate and defense officials, Senator Marco Rubio, a longtime advocate for investigating UAP, stated:
“95% of what was discussed in that room can be made public.
“We know what the spy balloon was. the other three instances, as they are described, both publicly and in there, are not new.
“We have heard the exact same descriptions in hundreds of cases, so observing unidentified objects over U.S. airspace, particularly over sensitive areas of the country is not new. what we heard and their sounds just like the stories we have heard repeatedly.”
Is UAP Information Being Hidden?
According to sources who have spoken to Liberation Times, information relating to physics-defying UAP is being hidden from both Congress and President Joe Biden.
Such claims prompted Congress to pass legislation within the National Defense Authorization Act 2023, providing protections to potential whistleblowers involved in secretive UAP programs not reported ‘clearly’ and ‘explicitly’ to relevant Congressional committees relating to alleged retrieval and reverse-engineering of potential non-human craft.
Regarding this topic, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, Christopher Mellon, has previously commented:
‘Even before this ‘whistleblower’ legislation was signed into law, credible individuals were providing Congress information alleging that the US government has recovered extraterrestrial technology. This process began in 2019 when I brought astrophysicist Dr Eric Davis to Capitol Hill to meet with staff from the Senate Intelligence and Armed Services committees.’
Sources who have spoken to Liberation Times have claimed that a senior Commander within the United States Navy has informed President Joe Biden of a UAP coverup which is damning of the United States Air Force. The claim was first made by Australian journalist Ross Coulthart on 15 February 2023, through the podcast ‘Need to Know’, which he presents with writer and producer, Bryce Zabel.
Liberation Times understands that journalists are currently racing to verify the claims.
If true and verified, then the White House will be left in a difficult position in a situation where it would look to minimise potential public panic.
A New UAP Interagency Team
In the space of a few weeks, the UAP topic has been elevated from the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security, to the White House, where President Biden has now directed an interagency team “to study the broader policy implications for detection, analysis, and disposition of unidentified aerial objects that pose either safety or security risks,” as confirmed on 13 February 2023 by John Kirby, the spokesman for the National Security Council.
This move may also allude to a lack of trust Biden now has in the Pentagon to be forthcoming and on top of UAP, which looks set to become major campaign issue before the next presidential election in 2024.
An interagency effort has the potential to cut through the lack of cooperation from entities such as the United States Air Force and sections of the intelligence community, something previously experienced by the UAP Task Force.
And Biden would have an element of control over responses to UAP incursions and transparency efforts.
The scope of such an interagency effort has not been confirmed yet, and some within Congress responsible for the creation of the AARO question its need.
Commenting through social media, Senator Rubio, who is also Vice Chairman of the United States Senate Select Committee on Intelligence stated:
‘Why is the White House creating a new “interagency team” to monitor, investigate & report on unidentified aerial objects when we already have @DoD_AARO which we helped create over two years ago?’
Despite the tensions, it is clear that the UAP issue is not going away. And what started with a Chinese balloon may lead to revelations on what former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe has referred to as "objects that demonstrate technologies that seem to defy the law of physics and capabilities that we don't have as the world's superpower."
But for now, the key topic is transparency.
Commenting on the general situation regarding UAP transparency, Jeremy Corbell told Liberation Times that the floodgates are now opening and that the ball is now in the DoD’s court:
‘Make no mistakes; the UAP floodgates are opening. I will personally make sure of that - and there’s no stopping it now, with or without me. So the ball is in the Defense Department’s court.
‘Will they organize and confront the fact that this is happening with or without their ability to shape the emerging UAP narrative?
‘They lost that chance, so now the question is: are they going to be honest with the American and global public? They have a chance here to earn back some public trust surrounding the UAP puzzle. I suggest they take it - and quickly. This starts with releasing the full video of the “Mosul Orb” to the public and admitting to its authenticity - as it relates to UAP.’
