Nuclear Nightmares and UFOs - Robert Hastings Urges Government Transparency

Nuclear annihilation. It’s the one topic which unites humanity in pure terror.
As her brief and disastrous Premiership waned in 2022, former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss became increasingly consumed by a haunting fixation on wind charts and weather forecasts.
Reports surfaced that, driven by intelligence whispers, she feared Russia might unleash a tactical nuclear weapon in Ukraine.
In those final, desperate days of the doomed Truss government, the looming spectre of a nuclear storm seemed to be the only thing on her mind, casting a dark shadow over her already crumbling leadership.
This is just one stark example of how tenuous the peace between nuclear powers truly is—a fragile balance where even global leaders can be gripped by the chilling dread of nuclear catastrophe.
A nuclear war with weapons in existing arsenals could kill more people in a single day than were killed during the entire Second World War. Even a limited, regional nuclear conflict involving only 100 Hiroshima-size nuclear weapons would place at least two billion people at risk of starvation.
Today, the global community remains on edge, fearing the potential escalation of nuclear warfare in Ukraine. This dread is fuelled by the possibility of a Russian nuclear test or a catastrophic event at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, precariously located in the heart of the conflict zone.
With Ukraine pressing deeper into Russian territory, one wonders when Vladimir Putin will hit the nuclear button.
But are our fears misplaced? After all, leaders and the wider public can only fear what is known instead of what is unknown to them.
What if another potential nuclear threat looms much larger? What if military and intelligence officials have hidden it from the public and democratic leaders?
Perhaps the most terrifying aspect of our precarious nuclear reality involves no known flag or foreign adversary.
Instead, it emerges from an unknown force, with an unknown agenda, capable of disabling nuclear weapons or initiating a countdown with ease —seemingly toying with those ostensibly in control.
And this isn't happening in a distant warzone. It’s occurring in the very heart of America, in the missile fields of the Midwest. And it has been happening for decades.
The true tragedy lies in the continued presence of an advanced unknown intelligence in America's backyard.
The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of Energy (DOE) and the intelligence community have been secretly aware of the situation for decades, evading accountability to democratically elected lawmakers.
Those who have read Robert Hastings’ book, UFOs & Nukes, will be familiar with the awe, dread and shock of unknown advanced craft interfering with America’s nuclear weapons infrastructure.
Hastings’ work has played a critical role in shaping Congress’s modern-day Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) efforts to investigate and provide transparency to the public.
Between 1973 and the present, Hastings interviewed 167 former, vetted US military personnel who were involved in UAP incursion incidents at Intercontinental Ballistic Missile sites, weapons storage areas, and weapons test ranges during the Cold War era and beyond.
What he uncovered were numerous alarming incidents, where personnel feared that UAP could spark a nuclear apocalypse.
Hastings noted how his book directly influenced two of the U.S. government’s previous UAP investigation efforts.
Hastings wrote to Liberation Times:
‘In 2018, I learned that copies had earlier been provided to members of the Pentagon’s secret UFO investigations unit, the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), in December 2008.
‘Then, in 2021, the former director of the group, Luis Elizondo, stated during a podcast that AATIP had utilized the book as a vital resource, saying that I had done “a fantastic job” investigating the UFO-nukes link.
‘Furthermore, in 2023, journalist George Knapp informed me that his longtime friend, the late US Senator Harry Reid, had told him that the alarming military witness testimony in UFOs and Nukes was one of the reasons he had secretly arranged for $22 million in funding for AATIP’s predecessor, the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP).’
In the book, two of the most chilling incidents are found in chapters ‘Launch in Progress’ and ‘Like a Diamond in the Sky.’
‘Launch in Progress’ recounts the testimony of David Schuur, a retired U.S. Air Force (USAF) Minuteman launch officer. In the late 1960s, Schuur was part of the 455th/91st Strategic Missile Wing at Minot, North Dakota.
One night, he received a call from base security: a large, bright object was hovering in the sky to the east of his launch control facility.
Its origin? Unknown. Its operators? Unknown. A serious incident by any measure. It certainly wasn’t a drone, as the DoD or DOE would have us believe for recent incursions —a supposedly new phenomenon still being blamed for breaches at nuclear installations to this day.
Even more alarming, as the object passed over Schuur’s flight, it seemed to send signals into the nuclear missiles, scanning them one by one. Then, to their shock, Schuur and his team witnessed the ‘Launch in Progress’ indicators light up on their missile status consoles —indicating they had received a launch command.
Urgently, they were forced to activate the Inhibit switch - preventing potential catastrophe.
Eerily, once the mysterious object passed to the northwest, all indicators reset to normal.
After the incident, Schuur’s superiors told him “nothing happened, nothing to discuss, goodbye.”
It was a non-event, and Schuur was never debriefed, despite the huge consequences of what had occurred.
In ‘Like a Diamond in the Sky,’ Hastings recounts the testimony of retired USAF Technical Sergeant John Mills III.
Mills described a disturbing event that took place in the late 1970s, just outside Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, at one of the base’s remote Minuteman missile launch facilities.
Assigned to the 44th Organizational Missile Maintenance Squadron, Mills was part of a two-man Combat Targeting Team, tasked with ensuring the nuclear missiles were accurately targeted for deployment in the event of a nuclear conflict.
While Mills and his colleague were inside a missile silo, focused on their sensitive targeting work, their guard banged on the ladder. “You’ve got to get up here now!” he shouted. “Either you come up, or I’m coming down!”
Startled, Mills and his colleague emerged from the silo. Immediately, they noticed a strange low-frequency hum, unlike anything they had ever heard. The humming was everywhere—loud, pervasive, and palpable on their skin. It felt as though it penetrated their very bodies.
The guard was shaken, and Mills was at a loss for words.
When they looked up at the night sky, they noticed something odd—no stars directly above them, even though the rest of the sky was clear. Investigating further, Mills gradually discovered a dark, diamond-shaped object hovering directly above their facility.
An unknown object, over a highly-sensitive missile site critical to global security.
Suddenly, all the lights around the missile silo went out, and the truck engine outside stopped running.
The backup generator didn’t kick in, nor did the tertiary batteries in the Launcher Equipment Room. The entire site was plunged into darkness.
When the generator finally cranked to life, Mills looked up—the massive object was gone.
That night, two other targeting teams reported the same experience. When they reported the incident, they were told by their superiors to keep quiet. Mills and his colleague, knowing that there would be severe consequences, agreed between themselves not to mention the mysterious object.
And it was fortunate they did. One team that admitted seeing a UFO was gone within 24 hours.
Mills never saw them again.
These hugely alarming incidents told in Hastings’ book are of the deepest concern.
The two cases are just the tip of the iceberg.
If these mysterious advanced crafts had been intent on nuclear destruction, they could have easily triggered annihilation.
Yet despite the risks, the USAF chose to silence and threaten those who dared to speak out about what they had witnessed.
This pattern continues today, now involving the U.S. government's much-criticized UAP office, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO).
Liberation Times has learned that witnesses to incidents where advanced craft of unknown origin caused emergencies at nuclear weapons facilities feel ignored by AARO. Their testimonies are not being taken seriously - no requests for witnesses to corroborate events - a basic investigative technique - and a lack of curiosity, despite the enormity of the testimony.
Although the first of AARO’s Historical Reports did not address this issue, there are concerns that the next report could attempt to intentionally undermine the testimony of those entrusted with the enormous responsibility of controlling America’s nuclear weapons.
Why? To make the issue go away.
This isn't a conspiracy or a cover-up. It’s a disaster that could have catastrophic global consequences. And the disaster continues to be played out to this day.
These alarming incidents continue to happen. Hastings told Liberation Times:
‘Although my investigations ended in 2012, due to advancing age and challenging health-related issues, over a 40-year period I was able to confirm that UFO activity had occurred at nuclear weapons-related sites as early as January 1945, at the Hanford plutonium production facility in Washington State, and as recently as October 2010, at several of F.E. Warren AFB’s Minuteman ICBM sites in Nebraska.
‘Other persons’ investigations have since confirmed further UFO incursions in 2015, at the Pantex weapons assembly plant in Texas. Given the pattern of repeated UFO visitations at nuclear sites over the years, I suspect that even more recent incidents have occurred, but remain publicly unreported by former military personnel.
‘In short, the UFO-Nukes Connection is longstanding, extensive, and ongoing.’
These encounters between advanced craft and nuclear infrastructure have occurred for decades—long before modern adversaries like China emerged from famine and poverty.
To this day, no publicly known technology matches the capabilities described in the testimony. Hastings, like many others, is convinced that the intelligence behind these incursions is not of human origin.
For many within the DoD and intelligence world, a possible non-human intelligence could very well be undertaking reconnaissance before initiating conflict.
But for Hastings, the interference with nuclear weapons serves as a warning to humanity:
‘While no one can say with certainty why the non-human entities who presumably operate the mysterious craft have monitored and even disrupted American (and Russian) nukes over an 80-year period, one possible reason might be to send a pointed message to the nuclear powers that they are playing with fire, so to speak, and risking the future of human civilization.
‘It also makes sense that if these beings have bases on Earth, and conduct various projects here, they would necessarily be concerned about the widespread physical destruction and pervasive, long-lasting radioactive pollution that would ensue following a major nuclear exchange. Consequently, their continuing but still-largely-hidden interest in the situation is likely to be both altruistic and self-serving.’
Hastings believes the disturbing possibility that a non-human intelligence continues to interfere with America’s nuclear weapons demands urgent attention from Congress. Moreover, he views the AARO as a disinformation group—a sentiment echoed by multiple Congressional sources.
Hastings told Liberation Times:
‘Regardless, the reality of UFO surveillance of, and interference with, American weapons of mass destruction is something that the US Congress must accept and address as soon as possible.
‘Although the Pentagon—and its faux-investigative slash disinformation group, AARO—can be counted on to continue resisting the inevitable day of reckoning, our civilian leaders must keep moving forward toward a much greater transparency on the UAP/NHI [non-human intelligence] topic.
‘Americans, and the rest of humanity, deserve nothing less.’
Whether we get greater transparency is unclear.
Currently, rogue elements within the DoD, intelligence community, DOE and private contractors are allegedly using public disinformation networks and political lobbying to resist transparency.
Their latest argument, at least to defense reporters sniffing around about alleged retrieval programs? These aren’t non-human craft, but rather advanced technology developed by a known human entity.
However, Hastings and others have documented such craft operating with impunity over America’s most sensitive sites dating back to a time when global superpowers were still flying propeller fighter planes.
One thing is clear—Hastings' powerful testimony, gathered from credible witnesses, will continue to fuel the push for transparency, whether the gatekeepers like it or not.
